Can we hit the restart button on 2020? It started out with infinite possibilities and within three months everything's gone down from there. Take today for example. I was so bored that I reorganized my books and cleaned out my sock drawer. After posting this, I'll probably drown myself in Netflix. I've heard Love is Blind is pretty good so there's my starting point. Since most of us are in the same boat of being stuck in our houses, I purposely picked books that are good, suspenseful, and probably take more than one sitting to read. Here are March's picks!
#5: Theodore Boone: The Abduction by John Grisham Theodore Boone is actually a long-ish series so if you like this one, there are plenty more to back it up. This installment of the series follows the main protagonist, Theodore Boone as he sets out to solve the mystery of his best friend's abduction with the help of some of his classmates. The author throws quite a few curveballs which makes for a really good mystery. Reading Time: 1 Sitting #4 Dracula by Bram Stoker Those good old-fashioned creepy mysteries are perfect for the quarantine times we live in. 1.) They're actually fairly entertaining and 2.) They take a little longer to read. This is true for Dracula which was written in traditional English during the late 19th century. But don't let that deter you! The story of Dracula is one that you shouldn't miss. Equally creepy and thrilling, you'll never want to put it down. This novel is written in epistolary format (Told mostly through letters and journal entries) and tells the story of a newly qualified lawyer named Jonathan Harker who visits Count Dracula at his castle in the Carpathian Mountains to counsel him on his upcoming real estate acquirement. Soon, however, Jonathan discovers that more sinister and supernatural plots are at play than what is shown on the surface. Reading Time: 2-3 Sittings #3 The Last Time We Say Goodbye by Cynthia Hand Love this book! A heartbreaking story with so much life you won't regret reading. The book follows Lex, whose brother Tyler has just committed suicide. As Lex begins healing from this loss and rebuilds her life and that of her family's, she must come to terms with a secret from that night that could've changed everything. Reading Time: 1-3 Sittings #2 A Good Girl's Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson Another great mystery-thriller in my opinion. Everyone in the small town of Fairview knows the story. Five years prior, Andie Bell, a kind and popular high school senior went missing and her boyfriend Sal confessed to murdering Andie before killing himself. Now a senior at that very same high school, Pippa Fitz-Amobi isn't so sure that it's an open and shut case. Having known Sal since childhood, Pippa can't imagine him as a killer. For her final year project, Pippa picks Andie's case to try and figure out what really happened all those years ago. Spoiler Alert: Open and shut is far from the truth. Reading Time: 1-2 Sittings #1 In Five Years By Rebecca Serle In Five Years is one that stands out from the crowd. New York lawyer Dannie has the next five years of her life planned out to a T. Land a job at her dream firm, marry her longtime boyfriend, David, and move into their ideal apartment. This is the plan. There is no room for error in Dannie's mind. She's well on her way to accomplishing this careful curated plan when she lands the job and accepts David's proposal. However, a dream puts that all in jeopardy. In this dream, Dannie spends one hour exactly five years in the future. In an apartment that is not hers, a ring that is not the one she just accepted, and a fiancee that is defiantly not David. This look into the future terrifies Dannie so she sets out to avoid it at all costs. But something happens that seems to start the journey from dream to reality. Reading Time: 1-2 Sittings That's all for this month! Stay healthy and safe! I'll still be here every week so be sure to check your inbox for post notifications and other content while we all get through this. - Caroline:) Instagram: @carhill765 and @fashionfunandextra Facebook: Caroline Hill and Fashion Fun and Extra Podcast: Convo's With Caroline Twitter: @carolinegh16 YouTube: Caroline Hill Pinterest: Caroline Hill FabFitFun: I'm a #fabfitfunaffiliate now! Customization #2 *All members can choose* I forgot to mention this earlier but this season, FabFitFun decided to include throwback items in each box moving forward. Customization #3 *All members can chose* This customization was one of my favorites and it was hard to choose. I would pick something then I would go back and change it almost three times before finally deciding on one. The things you could pick in this selection were: Amber Sceats Double Coin Necklace- Out of Box Retail Value- $50.00 Gravity Weighted Sleep Mask- Out of Box Retail Value- $39.99 WEI Two-in-One Purify and Glow Mask Collection- Out of Box Retail Value- $45.00 Cosmedix Pure C- Out of Box Retail Value- Out of Box Retail Value- $54.00 Green Goo Hibiscus Plant-Based Body Scrub- Out of Box Retail Value- $35.00 I finally decided on the sleep mask. I can say for sure that it was the right decision because I have never slept better. It's the perfect fix for stress, anxiety, or headaches. Customization #4 *Select Members Only* Select members like myself pay for the entire year in advance so that gets us extra perks. Like two extra customizations in our boxes. Here were what select members could pick from: Aria Beauty Luxe Detangling Electroplated Brush- Out of Box Retail Value- $34.99 Jabonería Marianella Imperial Jade Body Oil- Out of Box Retail Value- $68.00 Stone Cold Fox Tea Towels- Out of Box Retail Value- $38.00 AVEDA Damage Remedy Daily Hair Repair- Out of Box Retail Value- $31.00 I picked the detangling brush. Doing my hair in the morning is one of my least favorite things in the morning so I thought I'd put it in my box. Again, glad I did because it actually works! My morning has never been smoother. Customization #5 *Select members only* This is the last category you could pick from depending on your subscription status. This category had more amazing things so I was going back and forth until literally the last minute. Here's what you could pick: AG Hair Fast Food Leave-On Conditioner- Out of Box Retail Value- $24.00 Skindinavia The Makeup Finishing Spray- Out of Box Retail Value- $29.00 Lovescript Body Wash- Out of Box Retail Value- $28.00 Speaqua Cruiser Bluetooth Wireless Speaker- Out of Box Retail Value- $24.99 Ciaté London Fierce Flicks Precision Tip Liquid Liner- Out of Box Retail Value- $19.99 Eparé Dual Salt and Pepper Mill- Out of Box Retail Value- $21.95 Mystery Choice- Out of Box Retail Value- $23.00 I couldn't decide what to get so I took a risk and picked the mystery item. Those can always be questionable but I got lucky. My mystery item was a lipstick from Milk Makeup and the color is wonderful. I'm glad I got lucky with this. FabFitFun Picks This season instead of each box getting the same three final products FabFitFun will pick the last three at random based on your past purchases and choices. Some people didn't get too lucky with this new algorithm but I really like what they picked. FabFitFun gave me a set of silicone straws (Out of Box Retail Value- $15.00), Purlisse Watermelon Two-Minute Polishing Peel (face mask; Out of Box Retail Value- $35.00), the last thing I got was the This work Deep Sleep Body Cocoon which helps moisturize and clear up breakouts (Out of Box Retail Value: $40.00) That's everything I got in my box! I hope you're having a great Tuesday and a great start to your week! -Caroline:) Facebook: Caroline Hill and Fashion Fun and Extra Instagram: @carhill765 and @fashionfunandextra Podcast: Convo's With Caroline Twitter: @carolinegh16 YouTube: Caroline Hill Pinterest: Caroline Hill FabFitFun: I am a #fabfitfunaffiliate so if you click my link and use code SPRINGLOVE at checkout, you'll get 20% off your first box! |
