5/4/2020 0 Comments Activities to Get You OutsideGetting outside is a vital part of staying healthy both physically and mentally. Right now, health is most important and the fact that we're still a few weeks of being able to go places makes this the perfect time to get outside and be productive in a fun way! Read below for some inspiration!
Read Behind on a reading list? Have a goal for the new month? Want a way to relax or de-stress? Reading outside naturally calms you and it tends to be a relatively quiet place, perfect for this activity. I've been able to get farther ahead and sometimes finish at least four books (but I've read nine so far in quarantine) by getting outside. Being outside isn't the entire reason but it's free of distractions that can generally prohibit one from reading a book or relaxing all together. Tie-Dye If you don't know what tie-dying is, now's the time to learn. Basically it's a very messy activity that is done outside and requires looping rubber bands in different ways around a t-shirt then pouring paint in all these different places to create a fun affect. Typically, you can get tie-dye kits online and at any craft store for an inexpensive price. This art project is a great way to entertain people of all ages particularly because there's no requirements to this project. You can do whatever you want. Not only are you free to do whatever you want but you're breathing some fresh air and getting crafty. Definitely better than sitting inside staring at a screen or doing nothing at all. Ride a Bike The great thing about May is that the weather has a perfect balance. It's never too hot or too cold which makes it the perfect month to pull your bike out and get used to riding again before the temperature skyrockets to the 80's and 90's. Go for a Walk Going for a walk is perhaps one of the most non-chaotic activities a person can participate in. You can enjoy the weather, the natural landscape, and different views. There's nothing you have to worry about except the time and looking both ways before you cross the street. Plus, walking gets your heart rate up and helps burn calories fairly easily. Sidewalk Chalk Another great activity for all ages! It's a great distraction, some even find it therapeutic in stressful situations. Chalk is also relatively easy to clean so there's no need to worry there like with tie-dye. This activity is also budget friendly and allows you to create some fun artwork for your neighborhood. Backyard Camping Trip Who remembers doing this as a kid? Learning to put up a tent, making a fire, finding constellations, telling scary ghost stories? If you enjoyed it then, chances are you'll enjoy it now and it's very possible that if you have kids, they will too! Much like how dining rooms have become offices, living rooms schools, garages gyms, make your backyard the great outdoors with a camping trip. Relive some happy memories, create new traditions, and maybe squeeze a little bit of education in with the fun. Plant a Garden Gardening is not only a great way to add some color to your yard but it helps create good things that'll go back into the earth. Another bonus is that if you plant fruit or vegetable seeds, you'll have your own fresh produce which can save you money on your grocery bill in the long run. Have a Bonfire S'mores are a warm weather staple. They're God's best creation, hands down. Come on. I mean, you've got a crunchy graham cracker, gooey marshmallow, and sweet, melted chocolate. Love, love, love! But you don't have to limit yourself to just s'mores. Hot dogs taste great cooked over a fire. Food or no food, bonfires are just fun and that's a fact no one can dispute. With that, I'll leave you for this week. What are some of the things you're doing to get outside? What are you looking forward to doing as the weather gets nicer and when all the restrictions are lifted? I know I'm looking forward to getting a manicure. My nails are looking MONSTROUS.
