You may or may not know that I have a love of books. At the present moment, I believe my library holds between 40 and 50 books which is a definite downsize from the previous few years where I've had over 100 at a time. Since I've read many different genres and styles I thought I'd share my knowledge and tell you 5 books that are worth your time as we head back to school....in TWO DAYS! AHHHH!
Kicking off the list at #5 (because you always save the best for last) is Little Monsters by Kara Thomas. If you love a good murder mystery this one's for you. There's plenty of suspense to keep you engaged(I should know I read it in under an hour) and there's plenty of layers to keep you wondering who dunit. PS: Who actually does it is a total shocker! #4 is a little less murder-y but still interesting. The Rule of One is by sisters Ashley and Leslie Saunders. This book is set in a time where there can only be a single child per household. Every family follows the rule. Except for one of course. Ava Goodwin was born as a twin. Her younger sister Mira technically doesn't exist due to the family lying about the two babies. The girls trade off being Ava each day so that Mira can have a life while simultaneously making sure no one finds out there are two of them. For eighteen years this plan works seamlessly. Until a minor mistake exposes their lie. The girls flee, their father is arrested for treason, and a nationwide manhunt begins. What happens next? You'll have to read it to find out. Did I get you hooked? I did, didn't I? (I guarantee you read that in my voice. I love getting in people's heads! It's so fun!) #3 and #2 are particular favorites of mine. Coming in at #3 (drumroll please!) is Wonder by RJ Palacio and at #2 is Auggie and Me also by RJ Palacio. These two books follow the same story but with different viewpoints. Wonder tells Auggie's story and the difficulties he deals with at his first real school (he was homeschooled up to fifth grade) which stem mainly from his facial abnormalities through the eyes of Auggie himself as well as close family and friends. Auggie and Me tells the same story but from the perspectives of some of his new classmates who were key characters throughout Wonder. Now what you've all been waiting for! Taking the top spot on my back-to-school reading list is Since You've Been Gone by Morgan Matson. This book is my very favorite and I've read it at least five times. The book follows a girl named Emily. After her best friend Sloane up and vanishes (leaving only a list of thirteen summer dares behind), Emily is lost and confused but soon decides the only way to find Sloane is to cross off every task. Which includes facing her fear of horses and going skinny-dipping (no lie). With some help from a few unexpected friends Emily completes the whole list...and discovers some things about herself in the process. There you have it! Five books to start school off right or to discover a new favorite. If you've read them or decide to, let me know what you think! 8/11/2019 0 Comments You'll Thank Me LaterToday is a very exciting day. Today I am going to be telling you all about my new favorite thing. FabFitFun! If you follow me on social media you may have seen some of my instagram posts/stories where I've been posting nonstop about this. So what is all the hype about? Allow me to explain! FabFitFun is a subscription box that comes seasonally (winter, spring, summer, fall) with 8-10 FULL SIZED products (valued at $200+). Not the teeny tiny samples that come in typical boxes like Sephora Play. The cost for FabFitFun depends on the type of subscription you get. There's an annual and seasonal subscription. The annual costs around $150.00 and the seasonal costs around $49.99. When you pay $150, you're paying for all four boxes at once rather than paying $49.99 at the start of each season. I paid the $150 because I didn't want to worry about having to pay up to $50 every three months but it's really up to what you want to pay at the time. Boring stuff out of the way! Onto the fun! I got 8 items ranging from skincare to fashion. The list includes a kimono, a tote bag, a face mask, facial hydrating spray in rose scent, a frizz combating conditioner, ponytails, silicone wineglasses (for mom!), hydrating skin balm, and a foot exfoliating mask. All the products together totaled a $305.95. Each box comes with a magazine that's sort of like a guide to the box and mine also came with a discount for Hello Fresh. I was super impressed with everything inside as well as the way it was packaged. The only negative I found was that the tube that the foot mask came in was open so I had to throw it away because it kept leaking everywhere. So what is my overall thought? Highly recommended!
